NURBURGRING -
PRIVATE TRACK DAY - NORDSCHLEIFE
We are very excited about being able to offer our clients this extremely rare opportunity – to take part in a PRIVATE track day at the legendary 13 mile Nordschleife (Northern loop).

The day is being run by one of our working partners based at the “Ring” whom we have worked with before and hence they have opened their doors to Driving Adventures customers.

Anyone who knows of or has been to the Ring will know that public days are often overcrowded and extremely intimidating for those first visiting.

The Nurburgring is undoubtedly the world’s most famous motor racing circuit for both good and bad reasons:

The good
It is set within the fantastic terrain of the German Eiffel Mountains. The “northern loop” is an incredible 13 miles long including over 70 bends virtually all blind and non of which appear to be attached by any straights. The incredible gradients which you can’t appreciate on film or photographs give the track a feeling of driving on a tarmac rollercoaster. It’s adrenalin all the way - there is truly nothing like the Nurburgring.

The bad (though ironically what makes it so luring)
As its nickname of “The Green Hell” suggests, this track can be dangerous for the foolhardy. Leading blind over many summits and not knowing the where the apex is let alone the exit point of many corners makes it very difficult to gauge approach speed, braking point and track position making the untrained very vulnerable to injuring themselves and damaging their pride and joy. Make a careless mistake on this circuit, which by the way is about the same width as your favourite “B” road, and you’ll be reminded very quickly that run off areas were clearly well down on the list of priorities when it was being constructed.

The legend, mystique and challenge of the Nurburgring make it a must do experience for any true blooded car enthusiast but we as a company have been very wary of taking clients there unless it can be done with the assistance of Ring experts to ensure our clients get the most from their visit in terms of enjoyment, education and safety. We think this PRIVATE track day achieves all those prerequisites.

Day 1
Sun 9/3/08 Calais to Nurburgring, Germany (330 miles)
 |
We’ll meet at the Eurotunnel to
catch our early morning crossing
to Calais. The tour will take the
scenic route through Northern
France and onto some wonderful
“drivers roads” through the
French and Belgium Ardennes.
|
Then we’ll carve through the wooded terrain found on the approach to the infamous Nurburgring nestled deep into the Eiffel mountains.

We’ll arrive late afternoon at our trackside motorsport themed hotel so you’ll have time to check in and have a rest before the evening briefing at 18:30 which will be held in the hotel.

The briefing is being held in the evening to maximise the amount of track time the next day.

Following the briefing will be a welcome meal in the hotel expected to start around 20:30.

We are also holding rooms in a hill top traditional country hotel for those who would prefer to get away from the activity of the track. This very nice hotel is located 7 miles from the main trackside hotel we’re using.

Please note: If you were to use a SAT NAV to take you the “quickest” route to the “Ring” you can expect it to calculate a motorway route which will be in the region of 280 to 300 miles depending on which of the many approach routes it uses. Our tour distance is similar but takes a considerably nicer route!
